Procrastinating Faith

We are going to start with the very most important thing that tends to get procrastinated. Our faith! How anyone makes it through this life without Jesus I will never know. I praise Him for the security that only He can supply! Have you procrastinated in this department lately? I was. Seemed to think I had so many important things to do that I neglected my Savior.

Of course, this is Satan’s plan. He wants us to be too busy to sit at the feet of Jesus and soak Him in. If we aren’t taking the time to know Him better, how can we be a light for Him?

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 (KJV)

Let your light shine

Have you ever seen someone that absolutely glowed? I am not talking just outward beauty. Someone so warm and friendly that you couldn’t help but be drawn to her. Her love is contagious. She never even has to mention the name Jesus for you to know that she loves Him with all her heart.

Please hear my heart when I share this. Someone I barely knew once said to me, I know you love Jesus. I was blown away. I was in a period of extreme growth and in-depth Bible study at the time. This opened my eyes to the realization of what time spent with Christ does. It shows!

I began to recognize that glow in others and told them that I could see Him in them! Some of the dearest conversations and friendships have grown from these encounters. Kathy Triccoli shares a similar  experience of a flight attendant in her Bible study, Living in Love with Jesus.

So during this same time frame I was really learning how to share my faith with others. I was scared to death! I had fallen head over heals in love with Jesus and I wanted to shout it from the roof tops but I couldn’t even say God bless you to the bagger at the grocery store.

People kept telling me what a pretty complexion I had. What’s your secret?  I don’t do anything special to my face. Nothing at all. Then one day I heard the Holy Spirit say that’s not true! You spent time with ME today. I am where that complexion comes from.

Then I realized  Jesus was giving me an open door to say His precious name out loud! Would I do it? Or would I procrastinate and miss the blessing of sharing my Savior with the world?

Opportunities arose and  I told my secret. Sometimes I failed. Then I began to not seek Him as much as I once did.

You can guess what happened. My complexion wasn’t so pretty. No one asked me my secret anymore.

I had been thinking a lot about this back in August when I was researching starting a blog. I began to get back to my Bible study. I was really searching for a direction for a blog and what God would want me to share.

So the first thing that happened that morning. This very sweet little elderly lady told me what a pretty complexion I had! Well I couldn’t spit it out. I prayed for another chance. Bumped into the same lady and she said something about my complexion again and I told her! I was so happy to say His name and then I realized the lady was hard of hearing!

Oh, I love that we serve a God with a sense of humor!

I knew that I was onto something. Knew that He wanted me to share this with you. I was totally not going this direction today but He was.

I hope you hear me that it is nothing about me and everything about Him! The deepest desire of my heart is for others to really know Him. So much that it shows. It glows.  Always.

Beautiful post. I will never forget when we first became friends and I was telling you about something hard going on in my life. You asked if I had my quiet time with the Lord first thing in the morning and encouraged me to approach the Lord first.

Thank you, Karen. Do you always try to make me cry or does it just come natural? I have so enjoyed watching you fall head over heals for Jesus and I’m thankful that He allowed me to be a part of it.

Thank you, Marisa. Just what I needed and what so many need. You are indeed walking the walk!
I, too, can tell when I procrastinate and put off my devotional time and time in God’s Word. When I stay in God’s Word, I am very often amazed at what jumps out at me – both affirming and convicting.

    Have a blessed day!

Thank you so much, Rela. I agree that it is amazing what happens when we are in the word! I hate the feeling I have when I am not getting in His word. I’d rather live my life with the power and strength that only He can supply! God Bless You!

Wow, this post really spoke to me. I’ve just recently gone back to school to finish my student teaching. My mentor teacher is a phenomenal teacher because she loves with all of her heart. Those little ones love and respect her so dearly. I hadn’t even thought that it was because of Him!! I am in that procrastination phase you described right now. I need to refocus on Him! I also want to share a conversation with her about Jesus. Thanks for the post!

I am so glad you took the time to let me know! I used to see this in people but it didn’t hit me that it was Him! I am praying that you can refocus on Him and have your sweet conversation with her. Come back and let me know about it! Thank you for blessing me.
